A team with ambition

“Share and pass on!”
This short line captures Foundation for Global Goals’ mission in a nutshell. "Share and Pass On". This can be understood broadly. Like sharing and passing on knowledge and experience, but also: passing on the earth to our descendants in a sustainable way or sharing (scarce) resources like water and food. This is exactly what the Foundation for Global Goals wants to contribute to.

In September 2015, the General Assembly of United Nations took place in New York. During that meeting, 189 countries ratified the Global Goals. The goal was to create a global agenda that would lead to development for all countries. In the Netherlands, the national government and the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) called on municipalities to implement these goals locally in order to create a better world together. Global for local and local for global. In drawing up the goals, political divisions or a classic North-South division were abandoned. No less than 7.8 million people have contributed to the creation of the Global Goals. A fantastic tool has been created, it provides a common language for all and is the first international strategy to be embraced worldwide. It helps to search for solutions to issues such as climate change, poverty, improving the quality of education, economic growth, participation with citizens and provides tools for translation to the local level. It leads to greater integration, stimulates new partnerships and gives clear direction and inspires people all over the world.
